These pages have been created to help you get accurate reliable and unbiased information about the accessibility of tourist spots and facilities in the Pays de Montbeliard, whatever the deficiencies may be.

Since 2006, the Tourist Office has been taking all the necessary steps to make the stay of disabled visitors easier.

A committee has been created and is specialized in visiting the tourist spots and facilities of the Pays de Montbeliard area. So far the following cultural and sport facilities have been visited:

Sport activities


Pays de Montbéliard nautical and leisure centre - Brognard

Please note that the swimming area (and only this area) of the nautical and leisure centre has been awarded the "Tourism and Disability Label" for motor, mental, hearing and vision déficiences.

This nautical and leisure centre offers a wide range of activities. All year long, you may enjoy a walk there and in the summer, bathing is supervised (from mid June to end of August).

Public car park: 8 parking spaces are allocated to disabled visitors at the front of the nautical centre.
Reception: the team members are aware of the difficulties disabled visitors may face and are ready to help.
Entrance : manual door, clear opening width: 88cm.
Walking areas: the walking trails are level ground and consist of concrete surface or pressed gravel. Clear opening width of the access gates: 120cm.
Swimming facilities: in the summer (mid-June to end of August) you may use a "Tiralo", an amphibious beach chair which provides its user with a seamless transition from boardwalk- to beach to water. Early booking is advised, free of charge.
Beach access: there is a slight slope. In the summer, from May to mid-september, a wood ramp leads down to the beach and allows mobility impaired people to reach the beach and swimming area.

Facilities: first-aid post, phone box, tourist office and food outlet are easy to access (level ground). The reception area is equipped with a magnetic hearing device.
More facilities: Bike hire services (adaptive tricycles) for elderly and mobility impaired people are available at the nautical base in high season (see details below). Benches are settled on a concrete surface, making it easy for mobility impaired people to access them/
Public toilets and shower rooms: meet requirements. The toilets and shower rooms of the sailing school also meet requirements.

Bike hire: adaptive tricycles for elderly or mobility impaired people

The COLIBIRUS    company offers a wide range of tricycles to hire. Most of them have two seats, which is ideal if elderly or mobility impaired people need someone to come with them. 
Tricycles are very safe and equipped with electric engines, hydraulic brakes, safety harness and puncture-proof tyre. They are very stable and easy to master. Numerous adjustements are possible to make sure the tricycle is adapted to the morphology of both riders

You may hire  tricyles at the nautical and leisure centre or have the tricycle delivered to the place of your choice (quotation will include delivery rates).

Valentin Haüy Association

People suffering from visual impairment can enjoy a bike ride with members of the association who handle the bikes for them. The association has about 10 tandems.

Other activities can be organized such as swimming, hiking, pétanque, cross-country skiing and archery.

Starbowl, bowling alley -Audincourt

Private car park: no spaces allocated to disabled people. Access to the building is level, enabling anyone to enter with ease.
Reception: the team members are aware of the difficulties disabled visitors may face and are ready to help. One of the team member can practise French Sign Language.
Entrance doors: manual double swing doors, clear opening width: 150cm.
Intérieur : l'accès aux pistes se fait par une rampe équipée d'une main courante. Les équipements pour enfants (barre pour empêcher la boule d'aller dans la rigole, boule plus légère) sont également proposés aux personnes en situation de handicap.
Public toilets: meet requirements for disabled access except the support rail is at an height of 92cm and the mirror at an height of 107cm.
Lighting: soft and indirect.

Entertainment and shows


Theatre - Montbéliard

Car park: public car park about 50m from the theatre with some spaces allocated to disabled visitors. You may also be dropped off directly at the theatre doors.
Reception: the team members are aware of the difficulties disabled visitors may face and are ready to help.
Entrance: Automatic double doors, clear opening width: 150cm. Sloped ramp to access inside the theatre.
Lift: Automatic doors, clear opening width: 88cm, inside width: 100cm, depth: 137cm. When you get out of the lift, a ramp will take you to the stalls, 2 spaces are allocated to people using a wheelchair. It is also possible to remove two seats, making space for two other wheelchairs.
Entrance to the venue: manual double swing door, clear opening width: 120cm, there is a 2-cm difference in level.
Public toilets: accessible to disabled visitors, clear opening width: 87cm, no transfer system, mirror is at an height of 130cm.
Lighting: soft and indirect.

The theatre is accessible to disabled artists. People using a wheelchair can easily access the stage and the rehearsal room. Toilets and changing rooms meet standards for disabled.

Auditorium equipped with a magnetic loop.

L'Arche - Bethoncourt

Public car park nearby, 1 space is allocated to disabled visitors. Upon prior request, you may also be dropped off directly at the auditorium doors.
Reception: the team members are aware of the difficulties disabled visitors may face and are ready to help.
Entrance: 2 successive thresholds, each with a 2cm-difference in level. Manual double swing doors, clear opening width: 160 cm.
Lift: there is an 80cm-door, inside width: 104cm and depth 150 cm.
Public toilets: situated on the ground floor and at the 1st floor. Clear opening width: 90 cm. Facing the toilets, there is only a support rail but no transfer system (transfer is to the right).
Venues are easily accessible (ground level)
Ligthing: direct lighting in the entrance hall, no light control system.
Special programmes for young public.

Leisure activities

Mégarama multiplex cinema -Audincourt

Private car park, 12 spaces are allocated to disabled visitors.
Reception: the team members are aware of the difficulties disabled visitors may face and are ready to help.
Entrance: automatic entrance doors, clear opening width: 240cm
Cinema venues are all on level access, several spaces are allocated to people using wheelchairs either on the 1st row or in the middle rows, depending on the venue.
Public toilets: accessible for disabled guests, no transfer system.
Lighting: direct lighting with no lighting control system in the entrance hall then indirect lighting.

La Peupleraie minigolf - Exincourt

Car park opposite the minigolf, no spaces allocated to disabled visitors.
Access: there is a 10-cm high step to access reception.
Minigolf courses: Grassed surface layer makes it difficult to proceed with no help.
Toilets: you may use the toilets of the adjoining tennis court. There is a rather steep access ramp to the chalet with a 2cm right angled threshold. Clear opening width: 90 cm, no transfer system, the mirror is at an height of 145 cm.

Heinrich Schickhardt urban heritage trail

Following this heritage trail, you will discover major monuments of the historic centre of Montbéliard.  It is fully accessible to mobility impaired people through drop off points. Protected area of the Allan Valley: Parc des Deux Canaux - Espace naturel sensible de la Vallée de l'Allan

Extending over the towns of Allenjoie, Brognard, Fesches-Le-Châtel and Etupes, this park is situated next to the Pays de Montbéliard nautical and leisure centre and the natural reserve of land of La Savoureuse. This area was created to protect the biodiversity of fauna and flora and make people aware of its high importance. Everyone can take a walk or even picnic in this natural area provided that they respect the place. Perfect place for birdwatching. Accessible for mobility impaired people.


Discovery trails:

- The first one is about 1.6km long and stretches over the agricultural land of Fesches le Châtel and Allenjoie. Facilities: benches and picnic spots.

- The second one is about 1.3km long and allows you to discover humid environments in Etupes and Brognard. This family trail has been awarded the "Tourism and Disability Label" for motor, mental, and hearing deficiencies. Improvements have been carried out to better meet the requirements of vision-impaired people. Facilities: benches all along the way and picnic spots accessible to mobility impaired people (2 tables = 4 mobility impaired people).

Both trails enjoy areas with street furniture, information signs and offer beautiful views.


How to get there:

- Brognard – (starting point of the trail adapted to mobility impaired people) : From A36 motorway, take exit 10 Brognard, then go towards Technoland. At the first roundabout of Technoland, follow Technoland 2 and then take on the right after the Occupational medicine centre. 4 car parking spaces for mobility impaired people.

- Allenjoie – coming into the village, take on the right, along the canal.

- Etupes : Avenue Oehmichen Technoland – towards the canal. 2 car parking spaces for mobility impaired people.

 

Guided tours for disabled visitors visiting our area as part of a group

- Guided tours can be made in French Sign Language
- "Chrismas Lights" guided tour for people with visual impairment using palpable, acoustic or odorous objects.
- "Près la Rose Scientific Park" guided tour for mobility impaired people.
