Erected between 1949 and 1951, the Sacré Coeur Church is unanimoulsy considered as one of most important work with regard to Catholic religious art in the 20th century. The baptistery and the church tower remind us of the Byzantine architecture. The portico of the nave entrance and the roof shape remind us of the antique church's one.
Fernand Léger created the 17 stained-glass windows of the nave and the choir as well as the tapestry situated behind the high-altar. Stained-glass windows from the crypt have been made by Le Moal, those from the baptistery have been created by Jean Bazaine. He also made the abstract and coloured mosaic which decorates the main façade.
