For many years now, the Tourist Office has been trying to adopt more environmentally-friendly habits. You will find hereafter detailed information about our green habits as well as some suggestions to be a green visitor.
The team members know how important it is to save energy and avoid water waste. Recycling paper is also a common practice: old brochures are stocked in the cellar and collected by a local association in charge of paper recycling.

The reception team has launched a scheme to reduce the number of tourist literature in paper form. Based on years of experience, the team has established “areas of interest”, so called because of the visitors’ frequent requests. Orders are placed several times a year, if need be, always for a small number of copies to avoid paper waste. Should a visitor ask for tourist literature out of these « interest areas”, the reception team will be pleased to order the brochures for his/her personal use and have them sent directly to him/her.
We choose local suppliers whenever we can and make our best to offer a wide range of local products in our shop.
Going green also means promoting non-polluting transport solutions; that’s why follow since 2010, the Tourist Office has been offering bike hire service. Our fleet consists of 15 bikes for men and women, 1 electric bike and 2 children’s bikes. Baby seats and a child trailer are also available for hire.
A wide range of brochures in relation to green tourism is available at the Tourist office for free: cycle tracks of the Pays de Montbéliard, a Euroveloroute 6 leaflet (the Euroveloroute 6 is a cycle route connecting the Atlantic to the Black sea, passing through 10 countries – the leaflet shows the regional tracks going from Dole to Belfort), walking maps, information about parks/gardens and the Damassine, an energy saving building to house a landscape and orchards' preservation project… (click here to download our tourist guide).
You can help us to be as green as possible. Here are some suggestions:
- If you can, try to use non-polluting transport solutions: walking, biking and even car-sharing or using public transport definitely minimize harm to the environment.
- Respect the environment, the fauna and flora. Follow the marked trails when walking.
- Don’t drop litter
- Save energy and avoid water waste during your stay.
- Buy local products.
