Conférence Université Ouverte antenne de Montbéliard

Liberty, equality, property: the invention of our political ideas from the 17th to the 20th century
Conference organised by the Université Ouverte de Montbéliard
With Daniel Mercier, university professor of philosophy

To coincide with the publication of his book Liberté, égalité, propriété : l'invention de nos idées politiques, XVIIe-XXe siècle, Daniel Mercier offers a reflection on the birth and development of our major political ideas.

From liberty to equality and property, this lecture will look back at the major texts that have shaped political thought from the 17th to the 20th century.

With its revolutionary heritage, conflicting interpretations and ongoing tensions, this event is an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the foundations of our democratic life and the debates that continue to permeate our societies.
