Exposition Jean BAZAINE et AUDINCOURT, DU GESTE CREATEUR A LA QUÊTE DU SACRE

In the autumn of 2025, the "Fernand LEGER FESTIVAL en Musique" organised by the Association Engrenages Artistiques, with the support of the Service Animation du Patrimoine de PMA and the Town of Audincourt, in association with the Paroisse Saint LUC,
focuses on the talented painter Jean BAZAINE, who in the years 1950-1954 gave all his art and passion to offer our region a beautiful, joyful, lively work, in harmony with the SACRE-COEUR, a church commissioned from the architect Maurice NOVARINA, but also with Fernand LEGER's masterly stained-glass windows.

A leader in the renaissance of modern French painting, Jean BAZAINE is also a renovator of 20th century sacred art.

In 1951, when he commissioned a large mosaic for the façade of the Sacré-Coeur church in Audincourt, followed by a baptistery, the artist laid the foundations for an immense body of work that would provide answers to the questions raised by the meaning of art in the 20th century.
The exhibition retraces the stages of this wonderful encounter between a talented artist and the parishioner-builders of the industrial city of the Montbéliard region, as part of an extraordinary adventure.

The exhibition is on show at the Sacré-Cœur church from 19 September to 19 October, Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm to 6pm, free admission. Information on 03 81 34 55 21 or 06 71 27 09 00.
