Hommage à Albert SCHWEITZER
Concert in tribute to Albert SCHWEITZER
After celebrating the hundredth anniversary of the Temple organ in 2024 (the various events connected with the event were organised by the COSSIES FAN TUTTI Association), the Protestant parish of Seloncourt is delighted to offer a tribute concert to Albert SCHWEITZER to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth.
Having the immense privilege of owning an organ designed by this illustrious figure, it has been asked by Jean-Georges UHLRICH, titular of the Stiehr-Callinet organ in Guewenheim, and Jean-Paul LIBSIG, bass singer and director of the Sainte-Cécile choir in Illfurth, to continue their musical tour in a place where Albert SCHWEITZER himself came to play this organ.
This concert, entitled "Du crépuscule à l'aurore" (From twilight to dawn), will take us on a journey of "descriptive music". Constructed in the manner of an exhibition, each of its two parts will feature quotations from Albert SCHWEITZER, musical pieces and poems. The audience will also be invited to take an active part in the concert, singing along to a number of popular tunes.
