Baroque moment: geometry, music and heritage
The Conservatoire du Pays de Montbéliard, in collaboration with the Museums of the City of Montbéliard, is offering an original morning combining heritage discovery and Baroque music.
10am - Visit: From a geometric point of view!
Herringbone parquet flooring, sculpted frames, grids and optical effects: lines and geometric shapes are hidden everywhere in the museum's collections. This tour invites you to take a fresh look at the furniture, decor and objects through the concepts of perspective, structure and visual illusion.
The exploration continues with the discovery of astonishing ancient surveying instruments such as the graphometer, the inclinometer and the alidade.
11 am - Concert: Architecture for the ear
Geometry can also be found in music. Staves, rhythms, silences and motifs make up a veritable architecture of sound in which each musical form contributes to the emotion.
For this second Baroque Moment of the season, the harpsichord, recorder and flute classes will perform a programme of varied works highlighting the subtle links between music and geometry.
