Concert : La Mossa
La Mòssa's story of perpetual movement is the story of the heart of five artists determined to mix their timbres and their percussion, shaking up a few stereotypes. They drew on traditional repertoires to polish a jewel of a debut album, and now they've taken the plunge again. By creating a set of compositions firmly rooted in the present, these five women are shaking up the apparent naivety of rhythms and melodies derived from centuries-old traditions.
La Mòssa is even more powerful in its interaction with the sounds and meanings of words. With this mostly self-composed repertoire, the group is putting a new stamp on its history... Every member of the group is part of this great musical agape. Each member of the group takes part in this great musical agape, with tastes from lands of mixed cultures: southern Italy as the original breeding ground, Reunion Island and its candy-pepper words, Spain poetised by Garcia Lorca, Occitania with its loud mouth... Three cover versions are mixed into this new set, hybrid reinterpretations from Sweden, Venezuela and Puglia.
Emmanuelle Ader, Sara Giommetti, Gabrielle Gonin, Aude Marchand and Lilia Ruocco: five full heads determined to break free from the codes of the genre, drawing on their freedom as much as their respective influences.
Between autumn 2022 and summer 2023, this already fertile period for La Mòssa was enriched by a whole new galaxy. The group's aura extended even further beyond the realm of traditional music and took root in the world of contemporary creation. This included a major contribution to the soundtrack of Kim Chapiron's new film, as well as the creation of a music video with Armel Hostiou and live videos directed by Vincent Moon (La Blogothèque, Les Concerts à Emporter and recordings of sacred folklore from around the world).
