Expo Bazaine

Jean Bazaine (1904-2001) was a major figure in the New School of Paris and in twentieth-century French avant-garde painting, and is also regarded as the renovator of twentieth-century sacred art.
His world-renowned non-figurative painting is a humanism, an abstraction that tends towards colour, timelessness and purity. Her lines and flat tints bear witness (as does her discourse) to a spiritual quest, an endearing poetry and a sustained musicality.
Audincourt is the starting point for an immense monumental work addressing the problems of the meaning of art. Here, and through some thirty buildings, he signs his artistic approach: incarnation, the unique guarantee of true spirituality.
All his creations are permeated by the atmospheric elements, with water in all its forms as a common thread, including sacred art.
A fan of genuine encounters, he always feels the need to get to know people, particularly the people of Audincourt.
In this exhibition, we invite you to follow Jean Bazaine to Audincourt: discovering the town, the parish and his artistic and spiritual approach, which led to the three world-famous works in this Sacré-Coeur church: the mosaic, the baptistery and the doors.
By following the 15 panels, you can walk and meditate with Jean Bazaine. Three video sequences about the artist and a presentation of the original gouache of the baptistery complete this encounter.
