Bar des sciences "Démocratie"

With Loïc Blondiaux, Professor of Political Science at the University of Paris (Panthéon-Sorbonne) and Researcher at the Centre Européen de Sociologie et de Science Politique (CNRS/EHESS/Paris I).

Our democracies have never appeared so fragile. Faced with the many threats they face - the return of fascism, environmental crises, social inequalities, foreign interference, market dictatorship, etc. - they now appear to be in great danger.
Yet the demand for democracy, equality, participation and protection on the part of citizens seems to have never been so strong.
How can we overcome this paradox? Can participatory democracy, which emerged at the end of the 1960s, be a solution? Or do we need to consider far more far-reaching institutional changes?
