Concert : Bach !

A major composer of Baroque music, Johann Sebastian Bach wrote over two hundred cantatas for Lutheran services. These works, of great spiritual depth, also bear witness to an exceptional musical richness.

This concert features a selection of arias and duets from these cantatas, culminating in the famous chorale "Ein fester Burg", inspired by a text by Martin Luther. It's a way of celebrating a living musical tradition that has been handed down for nearly four centuries.

In the Pays de Montbéliard, an area marked by the Reformation and the influence of the Principality of Württemberg, the choral and liturgical tradition is a strong cultural heritage. The interpretation of these works takes on a special dimension, between historical memory and artistic expression.

The concert will feature students from Nicholas Isherwood's singing class, accompanied by Véronique Ngo Sach-Hien on the organ and Fabrice Pourchot on the oboe, in collaboration with the Friends of the Saint-Martin Organ.
