Théâtre : LE REPOS DU GUERRIER
Le Repos du guerrier: Theatre Circus Performance.
A chair, a microphone, a few sharp blades. And a circus artist in freefall.
Edouard Peurichard arrives on stage as one enters confession: alone, tired, funny in spite of himself. He tells us what it's like to have wanted to be extraordinary and to find yourself, one day, ordinary. To lack a well-honed skill. To run a workshop in prison. To wait for sense to return.
Synopsis:
"Le Repos du guerrier (The Warrior's Rest) is an attempt to take stock of what remains of a career as a risk-taking artist when the veneer of prowess is scraped off. What you pass on when you have nothing left to prove. What comes of daring to fall - for real - and saying so. This hybrid solo is shot through with physical élans, reinvented numbers, absurd or perilous gestures, and words that relentlessly seek out the audience's gaze. Peurichard summons real mentors, doctored memories and fanciful anecdotes. He juggles with words, twists circus tricks, sketches out a knife throw, deviates, starts again. It's burlesque, uncomfortable and tender. Winner of the circusnext prize, he gives the word "performance" a poetic and political density. It speaks to those who waver, who can't stand pretending any longer, and who know that sometimes art begins when the act falls apart."
