L'été des écrivains : Promenade autour d'André Beucler
As part of the ‘L’été des écrivains 2026’ initiative, launched this year by the Federation of Writers’ Houses and Literary Heritage Sites with the aim of introducing the works of both famous and lesser-known authors – and the places they frequented – to the widest possible audience, the André Beucler Association will be organising an event at Bondeval Town Hall (Doubs) and along the André Beucler Literary Trail, focusing on the author’s current literary output to mark the centenary of his first writings.
This event will take place on Sunday 19 July 2026 and Sunday 23 August at 2.30 pm at Bondeval Town Hall.
It will include:
- A short film (15 minutes) in which the author himself recounts his youth and literary beginnings.
- A presentation of André Beucler’s first short story, *La Ville anonyme*, published in 1925 (Gallimard) and reissued in Gallimard’s Folio collection.
- A guided walk to the family home, featuring readings by Béatrice and Patrick Plaisance from the Moulinage theatre company
- Refreshments on returning from the walk to continue the discussions.
This event is suitable for:
Children: through the discovery of a man of letters who was attuned to nature and devoted to his region; the André Beucler Trail comprises 30 information panels, including 15 on the region’s flora and fauna.
For teenagers: Through his writing and reporting, André Beucler described the literary, artistic, social and political life of the 20th century. A perceptive and renowned observer of this turbulent and tragic period, he left behind a legacy that still resonates today.
For adults: An innovative writer, known for his vivid style, his portraits of women and his descriptions of the settings in which his characters live, he brings to life a century brimming with poetry and drama.
