Sancho Pança dans son île : un opéra bouffon près de chez vous
The Conservatoire du Pays de Montbéliard is staging a new tour in the heart of the urban area with *Sancho Pança dans son Isle*, a one-act comic opera composed by François-André Danican Philidor and first performed in 1762.
This production brings together singers, actors, a small orchestra and a children’s choir to introduce audiences to this humorous work. Sancho Pança, a naïve and gluttonous peasant who has become Don Quixote’s squire, is appointed governor of Barataria by a Duke and a Duchess who wish to make fun of him. Against all expectations, he proves to be a wise and just judge, but the exercise of power might well make him hungry.
This performance combines music, theatre and singing to bring this 18th-century farce to life.
Featuring Claudine Bunod, Vincent Nommay, François Costagliola, Murielle Bouillaud and an instrumental ensemble, as well as a children’s choir conducted by Albane Joerger.
