Visite commentée : Une heure, une oeuvre
The "One hour, one work" guided tour offers an in-depth look at one or more objects from the collections. For one hour, a guide from the Pays de Montbéliard Agglomération explains the meaning of a chosen work, combining a historical, artistic and symbolic perspective.
Synopsis: "An eagle carrying a tortoise in its claws flies over a concentrated old man, busy writing, pen and book in hand. The scene seems to be frozen in a suspended moment, yet it heralds a tragic destiny: that of Aeschylus, the famous poet and playwright of Antiquity.
Oracle, historical anecdote, true fact or simple fable? This tour invites visitors to question the sources, origins and significance of this singular 17thᵉ century work, while analysing its workmanship, colour palette and iconography."
