Le sentier Heinrich Schickhardt

Originally a carpenter, Heinrich Schickhardt studied architecture in Stuttgart at the Court of Württemberg. The Duke Frederick noticed him and commissionned him to undertake major works. In 1603, he settled in Montbéliard and undertook the "modernization" of the City of Princes with a new town planning scheme and created the Neuveville area (Faubourg de Besançon).
