MUSEUM OF COUNTRY LIFE AND TRADITIONAL CRAFTS
Here, you’re visiting a real farm, not a reconstruction. The building dates from 1766 and hasn’t been moved. Push open the door, and the living quarters remain exactly as they were.
It is furnished room by room, with the tools in their proper places. Next door, the barn, the stable and the cart shed house the equipment used for farming and the trades practised in winter. Two rooms are named after Étienne Oehmichen, a pioneer of the helicopter born in the Montbéliard region, and Louis Vuillequez.
The museum focuses on the worker-farmer: a few hectares of land, two or three animals, and work at the factory in the afternoons. People did not live off the farm alone, nor off the factory alone. This dual existence lasted for over a century in the valley, and it goes a long way towards explaining today’s landscape.
Allow an hour for the visit. Children can easily move from one room to another, and the association’s volunteers fill in the gaps not covered by the display panels.

From 1 April to 31 October: Mondays, Sundays and public holidays from 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm.
During the summer school holidays: Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm and from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm
