The Hôtel de la Balance is one of the long-established hotels registered in Montbéliard. Its excellent reputation and the quality of its restaurant quickly made it a must-visit venue for wedding receptions and banquets organised by the middle classes and by sporting, religious and musical societies

In 1944, it welcomed a distinguished guest in the person of General de Lattre de Tassigny.
