Church of the immaculate conception in Audincourt

A treasure trove of concrete, light and faith
The Church of the Immaculate Conception, listed as a Historic Monument since 2013, embodies a bold transition in the religious architecture of the XXᵉ century . Designed between 1929 and 1932 to plans by Dom Paul Bellot assisted by Hézard , it follows a classical Latin cross plan: wide porch, bell tower, spiral stair tower, nave with three bays, transept and chancel with polygonal apse.
The interior architecture is a lesson in light and structure: segmented arches, openwork posts, clerestories and interior walls in polychrome brick. In contrast, the exterior reveals a smooth, sober and uncluttered concrete façade.
Inside, Valentine Reyre's stained glass windows create a captivating play of light, enhancing the spirituality of the space. The liturgical furnishings also feature a painting of the Last Supper and a statue of the Virgin and Child by Henri Charlier.
This is a place where modernity meets tradition, where faith, architecture and art come together in a visual and contemplative communion.
