Churches that inspire

The Church of the Immaculate Conception (1928–1932): a unique masterpiece

Imagine standing in front of a church that proudly overlooks the Forges district with its tall bell tower. Designed by the renowned monk-architect Dom Bellot, this 20th-century masterpiece is a true ode to creativity. Admire the polychrome bricks that play with the light, marvel at the stained glass windows by Valentine Reyre, and take a moment to appreciate the tapestries by Robert Dubail. At nightfall, the play of light transforms the church into a magical spectacle.

Access: Avenue Jean Jaurès, Audincourt.

Contact the presbytery: 20 rue Jeanne d’Arc. Saint-Luc Parish: +33 9 80 61 66 51.

The Church of the Sacred Heart (1949–1951): simplicity and colour

In the heart of the “car district,” this church will surprise you with its refined architecture and gentle atmosphere. But it is inside that the real magic happens: the 17 colourful stained glass windows by Fernand Léger tell the Passion of Christ with moving intensity. The mosaics and glass slabs by Jean Bazaine add a luminous touch that invites contemplation. A true breath of art and spirituality.

Access: 3 rue du Pauvrement, Audincourt.

Open Fridays and Saturdays from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, from 20 June to 21 September.

On opening days, you can (re)discover an exhibition highlighting Jean Bazaine (15 roll-up panels), who devoted his art and passion to offering the region such a beautiful, joyful and vibrant work, in harmony with the church and Fernand Léger’s remarkable stained glass windows.
